As a DVD package the offerings are minimal, but positive. The sole feature, other than Scene Selection, is Patrice Leconte's short film debut, La Famille Heureuse. A bizarre tale of an improbable French family set over 13 minutes of Benny Hill type action - a caper, if you will - and much like the small green things so beloved by our Mediterranean counterparts, not one I understand.
Fortunately, this does not detract from the quality of The Hairdresser's Husband, which is best left to stand alone. I feel if too much time or effort is spent on the examination of a fairytale, it often comes undone and re-visitation of this one in particular may leave the viewer ultimately sad, like the film's eponymous characters.
