As far as DVDs go, this is as no frills as they come.
It would have been nice to have interviews with the actors perhaps, or maybe a short documentary on the Algerian War that France was involved with at the time the film takes place, but the best this DVD can do is... you can turn the subtitles on and off (kind of a home Test Your French! exercise).
The sound is good enough, convincingly making my lounge feel like a French forest. That's about all.
