The lack of extras is absolute - no sleeve notes, nothing. Admittedly, Channel 4 have squeezed the entire series onto a single disc, but things would have been even better if they had given the eager punter two discs and a few gratuitous tit-bits for their tenner.
Potentially, there is plenty to add. What kind of abridgements did William Boyd, a distinguished novelist in his own right, make while adapting Evelyn Waugh for the screen? Who were the characters in the trilogy based on? Where was it filmed? What did Daniel Craig make of Guy Crouchback?
The absence of extras seems like a missed opportunity for the makers to show more and for the viewer to understand more.
