Number one
tip for American directors introducing their film at the festival:
it's EdinBURGH not EdinBORO. Unfortunately, ALEXANDER PAYNE didn't
quite work out why everyone in the audience for the premiere of
Election was laughing...
He also had to brave the delights of the ABC
toilets and bar. Still, he obviously hadn't been filled in on
everything by the hospitality team - after the intro he asked
Lizzie Francke "so what's this award then?" I bet Standard Life
were pleased.
I sometimes feel that it must be glamorous being a film director.
PHIL DAVIS put paid to that when he complained in the Cameo bar
that he hadn't had a chance to see anything at the festival because
of all the promotion work for Hold
Back The Night. Still he wins major kudos for inviting THE
ENTIRE AUDIENCE to the aftershow bash at Noa. Party on!
