Well it was a pretty poor day for the fame-seekers and film-makers. Perhaps it's just that middle-of-Sunday feeling which makes people want to stay in bed but there were an awful lot of no-shows today.

At the Dominion, for the WORLD PREMIERE of A Midsummer Nights Dream, only the co-producer turned up. None of the stars (Brits in the movie include Rupert Everett and Anna Friel) or even the director made an appearance. A bit disappointing for all the local kids who had turned up with cameras hoping to meet at least someone vaguely famous. Shame on you Fox, for not managing to ship even a C-list celeb to Morningside.

At the premiere of The Darkest Light, an embarrassed Lizzie Francke had to admit that director Simon Beaufoy would not be introducing the screening because he was elsewhere, probably watching some films.

Maybe another person's got their priorities mixed up. Finally, just to prove that Scottish Screen are capable of getting the Scottish Film Industry in shape, there was an impressive total of NO representatives at the start of the Scottish Film Garden Party becuase they were all at another bash celebrating the launch of the new Tartan Shorts programme.

To top that off the speech outlining the new directions Scottish Screen would be taking to develop Scottish Film was scheduled to take 10 minutes -- which just shows the amount of thought that has gone into it!
