After the dull Sunday, things picked up again at the film fest. The controversial French film Romance stirred a few passions with it's graphic portrayal of various sexual acts. So much so that during the Q&A afterwards, someone stormed out after one of director Catherine Breillat's answers.

At the screening of Bresson's "Mouchette", Richard Kelly got rather enthusiastic during his introduction and performed what can be only described as "a gesticulatory arm movement". Watch out for fans and groupies copying this secret gesture for the rest of the festival. In a surprise move, Rutger Hauer made an appearance to promote "Simon Magus". All the autograph hunters who were disappointed yesterday had a ball.

Speaking of which, the fun place to be tonight was at the Delegates' Centre not one but two bashes were thrown. First was an elegant pre-film drinks party for "The Trench" with a number of cast and crew in attendance. Then later on things got into full Latin swing with the party for "The Buena Vista Social Club". The bossa nova beat was pumping out and the free margeuritas were welcomed by all.

Most of the talk was lingering on the after-effects of "The Blair Witch Project" with most people agreeing that whilst not scary at the time, the ending is starting to freak people out late at night.

Top pitch of the day: Ken Loach remakes "The Blair Witch Project" with Kathy Bates as Heather, Tim Roth as Joshua and Ray Winstone as Mike. "Come on then, just you try it..."

Runner up: Robert Bresson remakes "The Blair Witch Project" -- three unknowns sit in a tent stoically and refuse to come out for the entire film. You can tell that NBX is coming...
