Lots of people recovering from the Film Four party last night which was apparently quite good. Also a lot of new filmmakers milling around "networking" at NBX.

Art Linson, producer of everything from Carwash and The Untouchables to Pushing Tin and The Fight Club, turned out to be a lot mellower than he was made out to be. Amongst the comments he made at the Reel Life event were: [about Hollywood] "if you use the word creative, you're in trouble" and [a common maxim] "it's not enough that I succeed - I want to see my friends fail". He also related an amusing anecdote about how Bob De Niro took over the role of Capone in "The Untouchables" from Bob Hoskins at the last minute.

Being a large and complicated event, you;d expect there to be a few technical problems. However the slip ups-have been increasing. After the rather embarassing incident with the reels of "I Could Read The Sky" played in the wrong order (although it was okay as only the director noticed), today someone forgot to switch off the lights behind the screen at the "Surprise movie".

And what was the surprise movie? Well it wasn't, as many people had guessed, "The Fight Club", nor was it some of the other titles floating around: "Eyes Wide Shut", "Deep Blue Sea" or "Dogma". Instead it was one of director Lizzie Francke's favourites: "Analyze This" -- one of the two that we predicted it would be (our other possibility was "The Fight Club").
