There
was some interesting debate about the British Film Industry
in "The State We're In", with contributions from filmmakers,
distributors and financiers. All agreed that this was a boom-time
for British production yet the ability to innovate and get product
on screen was still lacking. One of those speaking at the event
was SHANE MEADOWS, whose film, A
Room For Romeo Brass, premiered at the Cameo. All the cast
were there, mingling in the foyer, and Meadows himself was chatting
to people and giving out tickets to the party at The Belle Angele.
It seems obligatory to mention the fact that he's still trying
to produce a Western, where everyone doesn't have American accents,
but don't hold your breath waiting for it to appear.
Finally, it appears someone is taking the whole festival thing
far too seriously. Complaints have been received at the box
office because - wait for it -- films aren't starting at the
times on the tickets. Who knows what this person thinks about
Q&A's afterwards...
