TERRY Gilliam became resident animator with Monty Python's Flying Circus after meeting John Cleese while working on a US magazine, "Help!" He
made his directorial debut with Jabberwocky in 1977 followed by the
well-received childrens' flick, Time Bandits. His tour de force came
in the Eighties with his Orwellian, futuristic epic, Brazil, a film
which only came about after prolonged wrangling with Hollywood execs
over the final cut. Myth and altered consciousnesses have always been prevalent interests in his films, themes that are explored further in his filmic adaptation of Hunter S. Thompson's Fear And Loathing in Las Vegas, which he talks about in this video clip here. |
