"HAPPINESS is no lark" observes one of the characters in this triplet of melancholy short stories from Ophuls. Of the three stories the second stands out asmost interesting - La Maison Tellier - which shows the annual vacation of a local brothel as the prostitutes spend a relaxed day in the country. In all three tales the director follows his usual pattern of making it all look beautiful and doesn't attempt to be coy about the bedroom antics of his characters.
