The team behind cult-hit Super Troopers have come up with Beerfest a drunken slumber party of a comedy about an American duo who go to the Munich October Beerfest to scatter their father's ashes. Meeting their German relatives for the first time, they get a shock as the cousins, the Von Wolfhausens are less than hospitable, slandering their heritage, scattering their ashes irreverently and pouring scorn on the americans' drinking abilities. The yanks go home vowing to get even over this sleight of their family honour.
This is a Hollywood style comedy with gross-out jokes, one-dimensional caricatures of other Nations' and little attention paid to what might really go on at the Munich beerfest. This is late-night mad-cap comedy fodder sure to go down well with an undemanding drinking crowd who've had a drink or three. Cinema buffs should look out for Jurgen Prochnow and a reference to his most memorable film Das Boot. As they say in Germany, Prost! (or cheers as you chuck it down the hatch.)
