Ewan (Tygh Runyan) is a Twentysomething who, on returning to his home town for the imminent wedding of his ex, Charlotte (Laura Harris), is unable to decide whether he should ask her back or give her up. While oscillating from one extreme to the other, a pretty teenager, Amy (Eryn Collins), appears on the scene creating a new set of problems, dilemmas and fuel for a youthful and entertaining romcom.

Vancouver-based writer-director Jeff Macpherson has worked hard on the film's look within the confines of low-budget. Shot on DV and transferred to 35mm, the film has its visually muddy scenes, but it still exudes a stylish elegance from the exquisite bleached-out imagery of the opening credit sequence to the loungey soundtrack. Having a good-looking cast also helps.

However, the film relies too much on home video footage to convey a sense of past intimacy between Ewan and Charlotte. The grainy aesthetic of low-resolution handheld soon becomes trying. This was apparently a creative decision that was forced on the director due to lack of shoot time with his lead man.

The film suffers, but not fatally, thanks to its zestful dialogue, fresh comic touches and engaging performances from the leads. In particular, Tygh Runyan adds a quirky, comic dimension to the bruised boyfriend role, while Eryn Collins, an actual seventeen-year-old playing the seventeen-year-old Amy is perfect with her young pup good-looks and endearing teen foibles.

Add to the mix a happy ending and you have a surprisingly enjoyable piece of fluff.
