Fasten your seat belts for high-octane thriller Crank in which Transporter hero Jason Statham plays Chev Chelios (yes Chev not Chav !) a hit-man injected with a deadly poison Beijing cocktail which requires him to become an adrenaline-filled junkie for 24 hours if he is to stay alive. Driving madly through the streets of LA, Chev is out to get even with the gang who injected him, to see his girlfriend (Smart) and most importantly have a meeting with his Doc to try to get an antidote before his heart gives way.
Crank is one of those B-movies that is actually quite funny because its so overtly OTT from the start. With its fast-paced jerkily distorted camera angles and scenes of Chev's beating heart, this is perfect late-night fodder for young action-hungry males into girls, cars, drugs and guns. Statham is great value playing angry hit-man Chev to perfection and he's nicely backed up by good-looker Amy Smart and Dwight Yoakam as wildly unorthodox Doc Miles.
