THE Seventies blockbusting chiller by which ensuing horror films would be judged. Even by today's standards, this is still a taut, intense tale about a possessed twelve year-old girl (Linda Blair), and the Jesuit priest (Max von Sydow) who must exorcise the evil spirit within her. At the time it first came out, the film was praised for its special effects - in particular the infamous projectile vomiting and head swivelling. Guaranteed fear factor.
