Nina's met the right man - George is sensitive, fun, and yes, that's right, he's gay. Jennifer Aniston is surprisingly painless to watch as Nina Borowski, the down-to-earth social worker who invites George Hanson (Paul Rudd of "Clueless") to move into her flat after his boyfriend dumps him. Paul Rudd gives a respectable performance as the primary school teacher who becomes such a good friend that he agrees to raise her yet-to-be-born child with her.
Nina and George's unconventional relationship raises a few eyebrows, including those of her loutish ex-boyfriend, Vince (John Pankow). But this is not such an unconventional film. It flirts with "alternative lifestyles", but at its heart wants everyone to settle down. Still, it's a little more than a romantic comedy, with a feel-good ending that even manages to include the old single queen (Nigel Hawthorne) in a family love-fest.
