Tim Roth arrives at the Cameo at 8pm

It must be something to do with their film personnas, but when TIM ROTH and RAY WINSTONE rocked up at the Cameo cinema tonight for the UK Premiere of The War Zone, it was like watching a couple of East London gangsters "paying a little visit". See pics.

The film, described by two of our reviewers as one of the most depressing films that you are likely to see this year, marks Roth's directorial debut. Winstone plays a father who sexually abuses his daughter. However, the disturbing nature of the material didn't stop Roth from bringing his son with him.

It what seemed like a night of the hard men, PETER MULLAN (My Name is Joe, the heroin dealer in Trainspotting) and ROBERT CARLYLE also made unexpected appearances. TOMMY FLANAGAN (Ratcatcher) spent most of the time in the bar.

After the alleged little stushi of a few nights ago Carlyle was smiling and signing autographs. On request Carlyle even posed with his arm around a man in an anorak for what seemed an age, while the man's young friend (anorak, woolly hat) tried to work the camera. Unfortunately, the woolly hat couldn't work the camera, much to the annoyance of the press and television cameras, most of whom only had a view of Carlyle's back. Maybe Carlyle's found a new way of warding off unwelcome press photographers?

For the record, LARA BELMONT, FREDDIE CUNLIFFE and STEPHEN FREARS (wearing trainers as usual) were also at the screening.

On another note, during the screening of Trick tonight, they managed to get the print reversed in the projector so everything was back to front - oops...
