A man (Markku Peltola) who dies on a hospital bed after a savage beating miraculously comes back to life. However, he is unable to remember his name or identity and is treated with suspicion and disdain as he re-enters society.

Finnish director Aki Kaurismaki's experience shines through in this hilariously drole comedy. Similar in deadpan tone to earlier work - it even stars old regulars Markku Peltola (as the man) and Kati Outinen as the salvation army woman who the man befriends - it focuses on smileless, put-upon people eking out desperate lives on the fringes of society. Everybody seems destined for a fall in Kaurismaki's universe, but at the same time it has a way of rewarding human endeavour and kindness.
