A smart romantic comedy, Trust the man is all about the lives and loves of modern-day New Yorkers with two couples' lives, that of an actress (Moore) and her home husband (Duchovny) and her slacker younger brother (Crudup) and his girlfriend (Gyllenhaal) as they get tempted with infidelity, and try to cope with careers, the hassles of resident Manhattan parking, guidance counsellors and that old bug-bear, trust.

If you feel like you've seen all this before, that's probably because you have. Bart Frendlich's comedy which he both wrote and has directed is fairly derivative of other rom-com chick-flicks. What lifts it is a cast to die for (yes, David Duchovny can act !) It doesn't always ring true, but the film delivers a strong cast and some good one-liners. Trust the man should be in demand - even if he's not to be trusted.
